How We Work (And Why It Matters)

TBG was built to do construction management the right way. That starts with how we show up, how we communicate, and what we believe about this work.

What Working with TBG Looks Like

01

The Conversation

Every project starts with a real conversation. Not a sales pitch. We want to understand what you’re building, what your timeline looks like, what your budget is, and what keeps you up at night about this project. This is where we figure out if TBG is the right fit for your needs, and we’ll be honest with you if we’re not.

02

The Plan

Once we’re aligned, we build a clear project roadmap together. Scope, schedule, budget, milestones, and communication expectations. You’ll know exactly what to expect, when to expect it, and what your investment looks like. No ambiguity, no fine print.

03

The Build

This is where TBG earns its keep. Matt is directly involved in managing your project day to day. You get proactive communication, tight cost control, and someone who spots problems early and solves them before they become expensive. You’ll never wonder what’s happening on your jobsite.

04

The Handoff

When the project is done, it’s done right. Final walkthroughs, punch list completion, and a clean handoff that leaves you confident in the finished product. And if something comes up after we hand you the keys, we’re a phone call away.

The Values That Shape Every Project

These five values aren't marketing language. They're the foundation behind every decision TBG makes, from how we bid a project to how we treat a subcontractor to how we handle a problem on-site. They're the reason we started this company, and they're the standard we hold ourselves to on every single project.

Integrity

It’s 6 AM on a Tuesday. Nobody’s watching. The subcontractor cut a corner on the framing that the client will never see behind the drywall. Do you flag it or let it go?

At TBG, that's not even a question. Integrity means honest communication even when the news isn't good. It means accurate bids that reflect real costs, not lowball numbers designed to win the job. When we tell you a project will cost a certain amount, we mean it. And when we see a problem, we bring it to you the same day with a solution. Not a surprise invoice three weeks later.

Humility

TBG isn’t the biggest firm in Minnesota. We’re not trying to be.

What we offer is something that larger firms have a harder time delivering: genuine personal attention, direct access to the owner, and the willingness to admit when something isn't in our wheelhouse and help you find someone who can handle it better. We listen before we prescribe. We treat subcontractors, suppliers, and every person on the jobsite with respect, because a project is only as strong as the relationships that build it.

Stewardship

Your project is your investment. Your budget is real money. TBG treats both with the same care we’d give our own.

If a spec calls for materials that are overkill for your project, we'll tell you. We'd rather save you money than pad the line item. Stewardship means managing your resources responsibly, being transparent about where every dollar goes, and not recommending work that doesn't need to be done. When we manage your budget, we're looking for ways to deliver the best possible outcome for what you've committed to spend.

Excellence

What does a clean jobsite have to do with the quality of your finished building? Everything.

Excellence at TBG is a daily discipline. It shows up in double-checking measurements, reviewing subcontractor work before you see it, keeping documentation organized and accessible. It shows up in how we communicate: clear, timely, professional. We're never satisfied with “good enough” when we know the work could be better. The small things compound. And the companies that care about the small things are the ones that deliver on the big ones.

Restoration

“Taking Back Ground” is about more than construction. It’s about reclaiming a standard of care, trust, and accountability that gets lost when companies prioritize growth over people.

Every project TBG takes on is an opportunity to restore something: a space that serves a community, a building that supports a business, a relationship between a client and their contractor built on mutual respect instead of mutual suspicion. This industry can be better than it often is. TBG was built to prove that.

You Get the Owner

This is the simplest thing that sets TBG apart, and it's the thing that matters most.

When you hire TBG, Matt Ecklund is your construction manager. Not an associate. Not a coordinator you meet once and never see again. The person who built this company and put his name on it is the person managing your project, answering your calls, and standing on your jobsite.

That's a choice, not a limitation. Because in construction, the quality of the outcome is directly tied to the quality of the relationship. Matt chose to build a company where that relationship never gets diluted by layers, handoffs, or growth for growth's sake.

This Is How We Build

If this sounds like the kind of construction partner you've been looking for, let's talk. We'd love to hear about what you're working on.
